In spite of the ongoing efforts in the past 5 years to fight the so-called “grey economy” via reducing direct taxes, an estimated 1.7 mln employees are still working illegally in Q1.

According to a survey conducted by the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD), some 14% of employees in Bulgaria have received bonuses in cash and enterprises in the country are hiding one in every five leva of their turnover.

What are the main challenges the Government faces in its fight with the sector of grey economy and will the Government, the businesses and the public unite in their efforts? Those are some of the questions that would be discussed tomorrow during a round table on the problems of the grey economy in Bulgaria, BGNES reported.

The Minister of Finance Plamen Oresharski, the Minister of Economy and Energetics Petar Dimitrov and The Minister of the Interior Mikhail Mikhov will take part in the discussions, as well as Sofia's mayor Boyko Borisov, Holland's ambassador Vilem Van Ee, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Prof. Valeri Dimitrov, the chairman of the CSD Ognyan Shentov.
