Wheat harvest is expected to be extremely good this year, members of the Consultative Grain Council said at its regular sitting Monday under Agriculture and Food Minister Valeri Tsvetanov, BTA reports.

By July 3, a total of 166,148.7 ha or 81.41 per cent of the total area under barley were harvested, operational data of the Ministry's Agriculture and Forests Chief Directorate showed. The harvested grain is 686,352.56 tonnes at an average yield for the country of 4,130 kg per ha. Highest are the average yields in the districts of Dobrich - 4,940 kg/ha, Silistra - 4,580 kg/ha, Razgrad - 4,430 kg/ha and Turgovishte - 4,380 kg/ha.

The Agriculture and Forests Chief Directorate said also that a total of 119,151 ha or 11.58 per cent of the total area under wheat was harvested at an average yield of 4,290 kg/ha by July 3. The highest average yields are registered in the districts of Dobrich - 5,010 kg/ha, Silistra - 4,990 kg/ha, Razgrad - 4,700 kg/ha, Lovech - 4,660 kg/ha and Shoumen - 4,570 kg/ha.

A total of 52,269.5 ha under rape have also been harvested so far.

The council is to have another meeting by end-July to discuss the concrete parameters of two new credit lines of State Fund Agriculture for buying fertilizers and seeds. The credit resource, which could be provided for support under the two credit lines, stands at about 20 million tonnes, Deputy Agriculture Minister Svetla Daskalova said. The financial parameters of a credit line for the support of grain storage will be discussed at the next meeting as well, Daskalova added.
