The consumer price index in July stood at 102.2% compared with June last year, and inflation rate is at 2.2%, shows data released by the National Statistics Institute (NSI).

Inflation this year (July 2007 against December 2006) stands at 4.3%, and year-on-year July inflation reached 8.4%. January 2007 inflation stands at 5.4% compared with January 2006.

Food prices rose the most in July – by 3.9%, as well as prices in the public catering sector – 1.3%, and services – 2.7%.

Prices in other sectors remain unchanged from previous month.

The prices of the following products increased last month: rice -1.1%, flour – 4.8%, bread – 9.9%, pasta – 2.2%, pork – 1.5%, chicken – 4.9%, minced meat – 0.2%, beef – 0.2%, sausages and salami – 0.4% to 0.8%, fish and fish products – 0.6%, milk – 0.7%, yoghurt – 3.1%, Bulgarian cheese – 7.2%, yellow cheese – 1.4%, eggs – 10%, tomatoes – 34.3%, cucumbers – 15.6%, beans – 0.8%, apples – 14.5%, cabbage – 1.5%, sugar – 0.5%, honey, candies and chocolate – 0.2% etc.

Prices of the following went down – subproducts and edible offal – 0.2%, potatoes – 10.7%, peaches and apricots – 3.7%, melons and water melons – 5.5%, etc. Mineral water rose 3.7%, fizzy drinks – 0.7%, spirits – 0.4%, wine – 0.4%, beer – 1.2%. Cigarette and tobacco products dropped 0.2%.

Besides the food sector, prices of the following goods and services increased – rent of properties – 0.8%, electricity – 7.8%, gas for heating and other household use – 1.9%, lquid fuel for household use – 1.3%, refrigerators and freezers – 0.6%, propane-butane gas – 3.3%, diesel – 1.7%, bus transport 0.8%, taxis – 1.2%, tourist services – 27.1%, etc.

The price of A95H gasoline dropped 1.3%, of A 98 H – 1.6%, long distance calls – 3% down, and shoes- 1.3%. Dentist fees rose 0.3% in July, while medicines dropped 0.7%.
