The consumer price index in June 2007 compared to May 2007 stands at 99.6% and inflation for the period is at - 0.4%. Year-to-date inflation stands at 2%, and year-on-year inflation in June is at 5.6%.

For the period January 2007 – June 2007 against January 2006 – June 2006 inflation stands at 5%, shows data provided by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

Food prices went down 1.3% last month, while prices of other goods increased 0.1% and of services 0.2%.

The prices of potatoes and potatoe products dropped the most among food products – 39.9%, followed by frozen vegetables – 15.9%, eggs – 11.3%, flour – 0.6%, cheese – 0.35 and pork – 0.2%.

An increase of prices was seen with the following – vegetable oil – 13.2%, fruit – 4.9%, chicken – 3.7%, mushrooms – 2%, yoghurt – 0.6%, pastries- 1.2% etc.

Mineral water is more expensive in June – by 2%, as well as fizy drinks – 1.1%, beer – 2%, wine – 0.6%, and spirits – 0.4%.

Apart from the food sector, an increase in the prices of the following was registered – propane-butane gas – 4.2%, diesel – 3.7%, A98H gasoline – 0.4%, liquid fuel – 3.4%, gas fuel – 0.7%, transport – 0.5%, furniture and home repairs – 0.8%, water supply – 0.4%, water processing – 7.3%, radio and TV – 1.6%, etc.

The prices of the following went down – A 95H gasoline, long distance calls – 3.3%, tourist services – 2%, cinema and theater – 1%, coal – 0.7%, and shoes – 0.4%.
