Luxurious apartment situated opposite the Russian church in Sofia has been sold for the unprecedented sum of 6316 euro a sq m, money.bg reports.

The apartment, occupying an area of 95 sq m is located in the top centre and is facing the marvellous Russian Church, experts say, by way of explaining the reasons for the venue's exorbitant price.

Recently, another offer stirred up the local property market - an apartment in the most prestigious central neighbourhood in Sofia, the Doctors' Garden, was offered for the selling price of 1 million euro.

The Doctors' Garden district and the area around the Russian Church in Sofia are the most expensive central residential neighbourhood. Selling prices in the Doctors' Garden rose up with 19 per cent in the first half of 2007 and at the moment they are close to 2000 euro a sq m.

The previous record-breaking sum for property deal was 6000 euro a sq m for an apartment close to the National Assembly.
