Assets of Bulgarian Pension Funds Up 29% In A Year To 2.39 Bln Leva

The total net amount of assets accumulated by pension funds in Bulgaria stood at 2.39 bln leva (1.22 bln euros) on June 30, which is a hike of 29.05% compared with the same period a year ago.

Net assets are up 3.09% year to date, while those of voluntary and professional assets have decreased by 8.96% and 2.76% respectively.

On June 30 the number of people insured by pension funds in Bulgaria was 3,544,185 people. The figure covers all four types of pension funds in the country – universal, professional, voluntary and voluntary-professional and is by 7.42% (244,734 people) up from June 30 last year.

Pension Insurance Institute Jsc, which obtained license in Q1 this year, is included for the first time in the figures.

This is also the first time that official data on voluntary and professional schemes is announced

DSK Rodina started operation during Q2, taking management of two schemes.
