The average monthly salary of Bulgarian citizens employed on labor contracts stood at 424 leva (216 euros) at the end of Q3, the National Statistics Institute reports.

The average monthly salary in the public sector was 513 leva (262 euros), and in the private sector 389 leva (189 euros). By comparison, at the end of half one the average monthly income stood at 406 leva (207 euros) – 484 leva (247 euros) in the public sector and 375 leva (191 euros) in the private.

The highest salaries in the public sector are in the mining and raw material extraction industry and in the financial sector – 1,094 leva (559 euros) and 1,065 leva (544 euros), respectively.

In the private sector the most lucrative areas are those of financial intermediation (981 leva, 501 euros), and in the production and distribution of energy, has and water (725 leva, 370 euros).
