The construction business can rely on public procurement worth 5,000 million leva in 2011, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Rosen Plevneliev said Monday at the opening of the school year in the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy.

The 5,000 million leva outlays planned for investment in construction activities in 2011 will come under the ministries of the environment, regional development and public works, transport, as well as under operational programs and from municipalities. "The rest will depend on the private sector and its potential to invest, run risks and build," Plevneliev said.

He noted that the budget of the Ministry for 2011 is very limited. Plevneliev voiced his alarm that nothing will be possible to implement in regard of eleven of 13 policies for which the Ministry is in charge. The sectors worst hit by spending cuts are water supply and sewerage, protection against landslides and solving the Roma housing problems, Plevneliev said.
