Base Interest Rate Up 1.17 pp in a Year

The LEONIA Reference Rate stands at 4.93% as at April, which is 1.12 percentage points up y/y.The 1-month SOFIBOR Reference Rate rose by 2.40 percentage points to 6.42% compared to April 2007 and that for the 3-month maturity is up 2.47 percentage points to 6.77%.

Tthe yield to maturity on BGN five-year government securities on the secondary market stood at 4.73%.

In April 2008 the long-term interest rate for convergence purposes (LTIR) was 4.80%, or 0.52 percentage points up from April 2007.

Loans to Non-financial corporations sector. In April 2008 compared to the same month of the previous year the average interest rate on loans up to 1 million EUR increased by 1.20 percentage points to 10.64% and that on loans over 1 million EUR – by 1.60 percentage points to 8.64%.

Loans to Households sector. The average interest rate on consumer loans, on loans for house purchases and on other loans are up by respectively 0.64 percentage points to 10.63%, by 0.16 percentage points to 8.63% and by 0.44 percentage points to 12.59% in April.

The annual percentage rate of charge on consumer loans was 11.66% which is 0.59 percentage points up from April 2007. The annual percentage rate of charge on loans for house purchases stood at 9.30%. This is an increase of 0.08 percentage points y/y.

Deposits of Non-financial corporations sector. The average interest rate on deposits with agreed maturity stood at 4.92%.

Deposits of Households sector. Compared to April 2007, the average interest rate on deposits with agreed maturity increased by 1.10 percentage points to 5.24%.

Loans to Non-financial corporations sector. The average interest rate on overdraft was 9.48% or 0.83 up from a year ago. The same indicator on loans other than overdraft rose 0.77 percentage points to 10.23%.

Loans to Households sector. The average interest rate on overdraft is 0.29 percentage points down in a year to 13.73%. The same indicator on consumer loans decreased by 0.31 percentage points to 11.07%, while those on loans for house purchases and on other loans rose 0.24 percentage points to 8.85% and by 0.44 percentage points to 12.48% respectively.

Deposits of Non-financial corporations sector. The average interest rate on overnight deposits increased by 0.05 percentage points to 0.66% and that on deposits with agreed maturity increased by 0.63 percentage points to 4.36%.

The average interest rate on deposits redeemable at notice is at 3.73% (-1.32 pp).

Deposits of Households sector. The average interest rate on overnight deposits rose 0.05 percentage points y/y to 0.92% in April and that on deposits with agreed maturity by 0.35 percentage points to 4.81%. The average interest rate on deposits redeemable at notice is up 0.57 percentage points to 3.21%.
