In December 2007, broad money (monetary aggregate M3) reached BGN 42.062 billion, which is 31.2% up y/y, compared to 30.5% in November, according to data released by the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).

Monetary aggregate M1 rose to BGN 20.727 billion, its annual growth rate being 28.9% compared to 27.2% in November.

Deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years rose at annual of 35.3%, compared to 35.4% in November, while deposits redeemable at notice up to 3 months increased at an average of 26% y/y, compared to 28% for the preceding month.

At the end of December 2007, claims on the non-government sector reached BGN 37.783 billion rising 62.5% y/y, compared to 61.3% in November.

Loans to non-financial corporations rose 71.5% y/y, compared to 68.7% for the previous month. The change in loans to households and NPISHs (Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households) amounted to 52.2% on an annual basis, compared to 52% in November.

Net foreign assets amounted to BGN 19.130 billion, which is 2.7% above December 2006.

Foreign assets in December rose 21.4% y/y, compared to a 20.1% hike in November, while foreign liabilities added 70.3% against December 2006.
