At the end of 2007 the market capitalization of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange stood at nearly 29 bln leva (14.827 bln euros), which is 89% up from the end of 2006.
The top 20 companies in terms of market value constitute 64% of the total BSE market capitalization, or 18.57 bln leva (9.494 bln euros).
On December 31 the market capitalization of five of them topped 1 bln leva. The leader in these terms is still the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company with 3.16 bln leva (1.615 bln euros). The company will soon be delisted from BSE.
Chimimport ranks second and with its 10-digit market value if still way ahead of the rest of public companies. After BTC's delisting, Chimimport will lead the chart with market value of 2.3 bln leva (1.175 bln euros).
All five banks listed on the stock exchange are in the top 20. EIBank and Insurance and Reinsurance DZI are soon to be delisted.
Zarneni Harni Bulgaria and Trace Group Hold entered the chart soon after their bourse debut, with market values of, respectively, 770 mln leva (393.694 mln euros) and 617 mln leva (315467 mln euros).
The capitalization of the last company in the chart – Eurohod Bulgaria tops 400 mln leva (approx. 204 mln euros), while just several years ago, companies worth just 100 mln leva could make it into the list.
Last year SOFIX added 44%. At the beginning of October, when the blue chip indicator hit record levels, the y/y hike was 60%.
