BSE's total January turnover stood at 424.17 mln leva (216.87 mln euros), as a result of the transfer of 59.75 mln securities (shares, bonds, compensations instruments) in 56.546 transactions.

Trade was most active on the Unofficial Market if Equities, Segment A, where turnover reached 169.12 mln leva (86.450 mln euros) after 20.65 mln securities changed hands in 33,670 deals. This is not surprising, taking into account the number of issues on that segment.

On the Official Market of Equities, Segment B, turnover stood at 122.79 mln leva (62.781 mln euros), after 8.91 mln shares changed hands in 16,180 transactions.

Investors' interest in Unofficial Market of Bonds was very high. The monthly turnover there stood at 17.38 mln leva (8.886 mln euros) after 93 transactions.

These figures are considerably higher than the January 2006 statistics, but below January 2007, which is natural, since the market situation these days is considerably different from a year ago.
BSE's January 2007 turnover stood at 476.35 mln leva (24.355 mln euros). The number of transactions back then stood at 42,500 (14,000 less than this year). 62,860 shares (nearly 3,000 less than in December) changed hands during the period.

A year ago, the turnover on the Unofficial Market of Equities, Segment A amounted to 179.004 mln leva (91.523 mln euros), and on the Official Market, segment B at 166.63 mln leva (85.193 mln euros). Transactions with bonds on the Unofficial Market stood at 46.83 mln leva (23.943 mln euros).

Back in 2006, January ended with 17,060 transactions (nearly 40,000 less than this year) and 235.43 mln leva (120.37 mln euros) in turnover.
