The monthly indexes of industrial sales and industrial production rose in February by 5.2% and 11% year on year, respectively, preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) show.

Industrial production in Bulgaria went up by 52% in February 2008, compared to the same month of 2007. The index of industrial production depends to a great extent of the index of the processing industry, which marked a 9-percent year on year increase in February 2008.

The output of machinery, equipment and household appliances went up by 32.5%. The output of electrical machinery and apparatus grew by 26.5%, while the output of rubber and plastic products went up by 22.1%.

The overall industrial output rose by 4.6% month on month in February. The output in the processing industry marked a 10-percent increase.

The output of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture, went up by 36.9% month on month in February. Output of wearing apparel, including fur rose by 15.5%. The figures for Februry are preliminary, while the statistics for January is final.

Industrial sales marked an 11-percent year on year increase in February 2008, compared to the same month of 2007.

Processing industry's sales revenue went up by 12.9% in February 2008, compared to February 2007.

Investment product sales marked the biggest year on year increase of 26.2% in February 2008. The sales of durable goods rose by 18.7%, while energy product sales went up by 8%.

Industrial sales revenue in February rose by 5%, compared to the previous month. The sales in the processing industry marked a 7.2-percent month on month rise in February 2008.

The sales of non-metallic mineral products rose by 28.8% on January, while the sales of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture, grew by 25.9%. The sales of fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, rose by 13.1%.
