Inflation in December stood at 1.1%, the National Social Security Institute said. Consumer prices rose by an average of 12.5% between December 2006 and December 2007.

January – December 2007 inflation came to 8.4% against the same period in 2006.

The prices of food and beverages grew 1.9% in December, and those in the sector of transport by 1.3%, of restaurant and hotel services – 1.3%, and of accommodation (rent, repairs and maintenance) and utilities by an average of 0.6%.

Prices in the sectors of telecommunications dropped 0.5% for the period.
