EVN Bulgaria intends to increase electricity distribution and supply prices by an average of 6.29%. The company is expected to publish the proposal by the end of this month, The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported, quoting the company.

Higher prices are due to come into effect on 1 October. The proposal will be presented for approval to the State Energy and Water Regulation Commission by the end of April, EVN Bulgaria said.

The proposal has been prepared based on NEC’s current price. According to it, consumer electricity prices are to be increased by 6.45%, low-voltage electricity for corporate clients – by 8.78% and average-voltage electricity for business clients – by 2.20%.

The average monthly bill for one client at current prices is around 13.90 leva (VAT not included). If the proposal of EVN Bulgaria is given a green light by the state energy regulators, the bill will be higher by around 0.90 leva a month, the company explained.

The price increase was necessary to cover the company’s costs and investments in meeting European service and supply quality requirements.
