Ficosota Syntez Turnover Up 32% Y/Y in 2007

Ficosota Syntez booked a 32-percent year on year increase in turnover for 2007, the company said. The data reflects the 10 countries in Southeastern Europe where the company operates. The turnover of the company in Romania grew by 80% in 2007, while turnover growth in Ukraine marked a 48-percent year on year increase. The turnover of the company in Bulgaria went up by 14%.

Detergents, including washing and cleaning products, accounted for the bulk of Ficosota's turnover in 2007. The liquid soap sales of the company jumped by 123% last year. Liquid soap product sales in Ukraine alone marked a five-fold year on year increase in 2007. Fabric softener sales rose by 79% in 2007. The figure marked a 104-percent year on year rise in Romania in 2007. Ficosota's washing powder sales in Bulgaria rose by 19% on an annual basis in 2007 and the company is still the top washing powder maker in the country. The company's sales of washing powder in Ukraine and Romania rose by 71% and 45%, respectively, last year.

As regards to tissue products, the turnover of the company marked a 43-percent year on year increase in 2007. Ficosota's tissue product sales in Bulgaria went up by 84%.

The turnover of the company reached the 100 mln leva (51.12 euros) turnover mark in 2007 and the sales are expected to mark a 35-40% increase in 2008, compared to the 32-percent year on year growth posted in 2007, Desislava Garkova, Financial Manager of the company, said.

Last year Ficosota invested a total of 17 mln leva (8.69 mln euros) in the manufacturing of tissue products, while the total investments of the company in 2007 amounted to nearly 32 mln leva (16.36 mln euros).

Ficosota Syntez is an established leader in the manufacturing of fast moving consumer goods in Bulgaria. The company holds nearly 40% of the domestic market for detergent products. It operates in 10 countries in Southeastern Europe and constantly expands its presence in the countries in the region. The company manufactures one of the most popular home and personal care products in the country.
