The Financial Supervision Commission announced just a week ago that gross premium income of general insurance companies in Bulgaria stands at 665.4 mln leva (340.213 mln euros) the end of July.

Number one on the market with a market share of 16.67%and premium income at 110.953 mln leva is Bulstrad, followed by DZI General Insurance (14.68%) and Alliance Bulgaria (13.50%) with premium incomes at 97.681 mln leva (49.943 mln euros) and 89.855 mln leva (45.942 mln euros), respectively.

Bul Ins also has a market share of more than 10% - 12.23%. Three other companies hold more than 7%, these are Lev Ins, Armeetz, and Unica, all three are planning BSE listing.

Generali Insurance, Euroins, and ZAD Energy are also in Top 10.

Insurers have reimbursed general insurance claims worth a total of 245.36 mln leva (125.450 mln euros), the FSC also said.

Automobile insurance dominates the market of general insurance – the Moror Casco and MTPL insurance policies account for 64.36% of all. Claims paid on automobile insurance are 86.85% of all.
