Holding Roads was the most liquid stock on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) in May, the monthly bulletin of the bourse shows. A total of 10,604 shares of the company changed hands in 3,233 transactions last month. The number of deals sealed on the position of Holding Roads stood at 1,361 in April, while while the number of traded stocks amounted to 6,221.

The monthly turnover on the position of the company stood at 10.84 mln leva (5.54 mln euros) in May. The stock of the company appreciated from an average of 783.19 leva (400 euros) per share on May 7 to an average of 1,079.16 (551 euros) leva per share on May 30, which is a 37.8-percent increase.

Chimimport ranks second in terms of deals and turnover. The number of deals sealed on the position of the economic group also exceeded 3,000 in May. A total of 1.07 mln shares of Chimimport traded hands in 3,101 transactions last month. The monthly turnover totaled 11.11 mln leva (5.68 mln euros).

Chimimport's stock price went up by 25% to an average of 10.95 leva (5.6 euros) per share in May.

Zarneni Hrani rounded out the top three of the most liquid companies on BSE in May. A total of 2.63 mln shares in the company changed hands in 3,076 transactions. The value of the deals stood at 6.37 mln leva (3.25 mln euros).

The number of deals sealed on the position of Zarneni Hrani stood at 1,504 in April. A total of 3.23 mln shares in the company for 6.85 mln leva (3.5 mln euros) changed hands that month.

The stock of the company advanced by nearly 34% to 2.84 leva (1.45 euros) per share in May.

First Investment Bank (FIBank) is fuerther down in the ranking. The turbulent month for the bank definitely affected the trading activity on the position. A total of 2,226 deals in FIBank's stock were registered in the period May 7-30. The number of shares traded in the period stood at 940,070. The value of the transactions totaled 6.74 mln leva (3.44 mln euros). FIBank was not among BSE's five most liquid stocks in April.

FIBank's stock appreciated by just 1.5% to an average of 7.41 leva (3.78 euros) per share last month. The stock of the company plunged by 9.6% in two sessions in the middle of may. The bank, however, managed to recover the losses in the following four trading sessions.

Trace Group Hold rounded out the top five of BSE's most liquid companies in May. A total of 2,177 deals in the company's stock were sealed last month. The total number of the shares traded stood at 23,186, while the value of the transactions amounted to 3.28 mln leva (1.67 mln euros). The company did not make it into the ranking in April.

The strong demand for Trace Group Hold's stock raised its price by 43.4% to an average of 152.86 leva (78 euros) per share.

The combined turnover on the positions of the five most liquid companies accounted for 26% of the total value of the deals sealed in the stocks traded on the four segments of BSE's Official and Unofficial markets last month.
