The index of industrial producer prices on the domestic market rose by 0.3% in April compared to the previous month, data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) show. The index increased by 0.4% compared to March 2008.

The prices in the production of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture, rose by 2%, while the prices in the production of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, and in the production of other non-metallic mineral products rose by 1.3 and 1.2%, respectively. The prices in the production of foodstuffs and drinks increased by 0.9%.

The producer price index on the domestic market marked a 13.6-percent year on year increase in April. The prices in the processing industry went up by 16.3% in April 2008, compared to April 2007.

The appreciation of foodstuffs and drinks was most tangible - by 24%.

The prices in the manufacturing of electrical machinery and apparatus went up by 14.9%, while the prices in the production of metal products, except machinery and equipment rose by 14.2%.

The overall producer price index marked a 0.2-percent increase in April 2008, compared to March. The prices in the production of foodstuffs and drinks rose by 0.9%.

The overall producer price index advanced by 13.3% in April 2008, compared to the same month in 2007. In the processing industry producer prices increased by 14.2% year on year.

Prices of consumer products went up 10% and of investment products 5.3%. The prices of energy products went up by 23.7% year-on-year.
