The SOFIX blue-chip index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) will not drop to under the 1,000-point level, according to 63.24% of the participants in one of the latest inquiries conducted by Profit.bg.

A total of 25% of the respondents, however, believe that the index will slip to under the psychological level, while other 8% have no answer to the question.

The SOFIX posted its fourth consecutive loss yesterday after dropping 4.31%, to 1,022.74 points. This is the lowest close of the index since the beginning of October 2006.

This was also the 83rd decline of the index since the beginning of the year. The SOFIX slumped by 6.59% on January 21, recording its worst session this years. Five days earlier it had lost 5.06% in a single day.

The index rebounded by more than 6% on January 25, recording its best performance so far this year.

The index has lost 42.14% since the beginning of the year. The SOFIX advanced by 44.42% and 48.28% in 2007 and 2006, respectively.
