If developments come to the point of liquidation of the joint venture between the Bulgarian Energy Holding and IGI Poseidon of Greece, Bulgaria will have the right to purchase as an asset the part of the natural gas interconnector on its territory, Economy, Energy and Tourism Minister Traicho Traikov said.

Speaking during Question Time in Parliament Friday he answered a question related to the agreements he had reached with Greek Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Tina Birbili during his recent visit to that country.

Traikov expressed the opinion that everything that had caused concern in the infrastructure company was resolved in this way.

Negotiations between the companies are expected to start next week. They were also delayed by details involving the company which will serve trade with natural gas from this pipe.

Initially Bulgaria was to hold 35 per cent but agreement at political level has raised the figure to 50 per cent in the company, Traikov said. He added that the deadlines set down by the European Commission will be kept.
