Romanian and Hungarian experts discussed final plans to build border crossing points on a 38-mile section of a highway linking the two countries.

The experts met in the northwestern Romanian town of Oradea, 19 miles from the border with Hungary, and transport ministers of the two countries are to sign an agreement on the highway and the two border check points in February, the Hungarian news agency MTI said Wednesday.

The highway section between Oradea and the Hungarian town of Berettyoujfalu, 20 miles from the Romanian border, should be completed by February 2010.

Janos Csontos, a Hungarian lawmaker that took part in the Oradea talks said the highway from Berettyoujfalu might reach Budapest through two directions.

One highway leading via the town of Debrecen and the other on a shorter route through the town of Szolnok but with large sections of the road still to be built.
