Data from the National Institute for Statistics (INS) of Romania shows that the value of construction work rose 32 percent in the first four months of the year, compared to Q1 2007, BusinessStandard.ro is reporting.

Likewise, there was a 31.4 percent rise this April compared to April 2007.

The value of construction of non-residential buildings increased 33.9 percent, while that for residential construction advanced 32.9 percent.

Civil engineering projects rose 30.9 percent in Q1 2008, compared to the first quarter in 2007.

In April construction work indices increased 18.6 percent in April, compared to March 2008, a rise valid for all types of construction.

In terms of volume, increases for residential and non-residential construction were 48.7 percent and 24.3 percent, respectively.

The Romanian construction market advanced 33 percent in 2007, the highest growth rhythm since 1990.
