By the end of the year Sofia and Rousse, on the Danube, will have centers handling emergency
calls to 112 - the single European number, while until 2009 such centers will be built in Bourgas and Varna, on the Black Sea, Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria and Montana, Northwestern Bulgaria. This was announced Thursday bu the government information service, BTA reports.

At its regular meeting the cabinet approved a decision on the locations and establishment of the 112 emergency call centers nationwide. The money needed for the facilities will be provided from the budget of the Ministry of State Policy in Disasters and Accidents.

Choosing the location of the centers takes into account various factors, among them ensuring the best cost-effectiveness of refurbishing existing premises that will house the centres, the capacity of the electronic communications network, possible seismic risks and the possibility to change or expand the area covered by the respective center.
