Bulgaria's export to non-EU countries stood at 5.99 bln leva (3.06 bln euros) in 2008 H1, show data released by the National Statistics Institute (NSI) today.

The main destination for Bulgaria's export in H1 was Turkey - 1.61 billlion leva (823 mln euros), or 35% up from the corresponding period a year ago. Export to Serbia was worth 592.9 mln leva (303 mln euros). Other important markets are Russia (462.3 mln leva, 236.3 mln euros), Macedonia (316.2 mln leva, 161.6 mln euros), Georgia (245.5 mln leva, 125.5 mln euros ), the United Arab Emirates (204.7 mln leva, 104.6 mln euros) and Singapore (203 mln leva, 103.7 mln euros).

The main importers to Bulgaria in H1 were Russia (3.40 billion leva, 1.7 bln euros), followed by Ukraine (2.20 billion leva, 1.12 bln euros) and Turkey (1.37 billion leva, 700 mln euros). Next are China (641.8 mln leva, 328 mln euros), Macedonia (302.1 mln leva, 154.4 mln euros), USA (263.5 mln leva, 134.7 mln euros), Georgia (246.2 mln leva, 125.8 mln euros) and Switzerland (228.9 mln leva, 117 mln euros).

The total value of import in H1 stood at 10.87 billion leva (5.57 bln euros), which is 39.9% up from a year ago.

Bulgaria's trade deficit with non-EU countries came to 4.87 billion leva (2.48 bln euros).
