In April 2008 the broad money (money aggregate M3) reaches 42.833 billion leva (21.9 mln euros), which is 28.3% up y/y, against a hike of 29% in March 2008. The M1 aggregate reached 20.075 billion leva (10.2 billion euros), which is 22.3% up y/y, compared to a 22% increase in March.

The annual growth rate of deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years was 34.2% compared to 36.9% in March, while the growth rate of deposits redeemable at notice of up to 3 months was 34.1% compared to 31.3% for the preceding month.

At the end of April 2008, claims on the Non-government sector reached 41.991 bln leva with an annual growth rate of 55% compared to 55.5% in March. The annual growth rate of claims has been influenced by net sales of loans.

The annual growth rate of loans to non-financial corporations was 59.6% compared to 60.5% for the previous month. The change in loans to households and Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (NPISHs) amounted to 49.8% on an annual basis, compared to 49.5% in March.

Net foreign assets amounted to 17.624 billion euros with an annual growth rate of 3.8% compared to 4.3% for the previous month. The annual growth rate of foreign assets in April was 27.2% compared to 21% in March, while that of foreign liabilities – 79.6% compared to 57.5% for the previous month.
