The capitalization of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange may pass 15 bln euros (29.337 bln leva) today.

By comparison, at the end of last month capitalization stood at 27.877 bln leva (14.25 bln euros), and on the last day of August at 24.595 bln leva (12.575 bln euros).

On October 31, 2006, the market value of the companies listed on BSE was at 12.447 bln leva (6.36 bln euros).

A total of 364 companies are listed on BSE at the moment, versus 339 a year ago. 1,635 COBOS certificates have been issued this year between January and September making their number 3,964 in total.

SOFIX added 78.18% to 1943.08 points in 2006, while BG40 added 226.96% to 616.58 points.

Bulgarian Stock Exchange has been developing very well in the past year. More and more public companies are announcing plans to go public, or at least have expressed interest to the opportunities of raising capital on the bourse.

If we take a look at the neighboring countries, we see that the stock exchange in Macedonia has a market value of 2.3 bln euros, in Croatia – 53 bln euros, and in Romania, the Bucharest Stock Exchange has a market value of 27 bln euros.
