From this summer on, travelers crossing the Bulgarian-Greek border at Kulata-Promachonas will go through border control only once. They are now checked twice at this border crossing - by Bulgarian and then by Greek authorities.

The new rule was agreed during a visit by a delegation of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry in Greece, the Ministry's press office announced.

Interior Minister Roumen Petkov and his Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos discussed the cooperation between their departments, the parameters of the present police cooperation and their prospects for development.

According to Minister Petkov, this agreement (also called "one stop shop" system) and the agreement for a joint contact center is very important for Bulgaria regarding the safe control on the internal EU border and the country's upcoming accession to the Schengen area.
