Discover The Place Behind The Legend Of The Black Sea Name – in Manastirski Rid Hotel Complex

We all have heard legends about how the Black Sea got its name. The popular belief is that the sea was called black beacuse of the many sailors who died in it after the deadly waves smashed their ships on the coastal rocks. There is, however, another, less popular legend.
It tells of pirates in the Middles Ages who used to burry their treasures in a secret place near the rocks in Varna. For years the pirates crossed the seas killing, stealing, and destroying other ships. They were untouchable, nobody could defeat them. The secret to their invincibility was hidden deep inside the ship's hold. According to the legend, this was a mystrious gold candlestick, which had the magical power to protect from sickness and misortune anyone around it.
On one of the usual stops the ship made near Varna, one of the pirates stole a chest with treasures, and using the disguise of the night left the ship and burried it in a hidden spot a thousand steps away from the shore, which he marked with a cross. One of the valuables the chest contained was the gold candlestick.
The ship was soon hit by a storm, but with the candlestick no longer there to protect it, the vessel was completely destroyed and all on board it died.
Years passed, and more and more people noticed the strange influence a cross planted in the ground near the shore had on people. A group of monks thought it was a sign from God and decided to build a monastery there, so that more people could come and feel the magical effect it had.
You may be wondering what all this has to do with the hotel. Well, the hotel complex is built exactly where that monastery once stood. Local people claim that its mystical power is still felt around the place. The name Manastirski Rid means „The hill with the Monastery“.
Time seems to have stopped in the place filled with tranquility and positive energy. Visitors say watching the sunrise and sunset, or the glow of the moon at night is a unique experience there.
In my opinion there is no better place to spend the weekend. To be in peace and harmony with ourselves is exactly what we need after a long week at work. If you, like me, live in a big, busy city, you probably need to escape the crowd and pollution, and substitute it with fresh air and the beauty of nature. That, I'm sure will bring a smile to your face.
Now let me tell you about the hotel. Manastirski Rid comprises a three-storey apartment building surronded by a lot of greenery and brick-laid ovens, and three small one-storey houses.
The hotel has nine double rooms and two spacious sea-view suites. The suites comprise a living room and two bedrooms, and one of them has two separate bathrooms. Up to seven people can be accommodated in each of the suites, which are equipped with AC and cable TV.
The hotel has a reasturant of the traditional Bulgarian style called „mehana“, which seats up to 35 people. The complex is just 1300 meters away from the famous resort St. Konstantin and Elena, and there is free transportation to those who wish to visit it. Golden Sands Beach Resort, as well as the famous historical area Alaja monastery are also within the same distance.
One of the biggest Botanical gardens on the Black Sea Coast is situated on an area of 360 decares, very near the hotel.
You will love not only the place but the rates as well. Before 12 July a night costs 20 leva per person. During the season (which starts 12 July) a night costs a little more – 30 leva. Children under 2 years of age stay for free.
