The worst paid employees in Bulgaria are those working in textile industry where monthly income averages 280 leva (143 euros), and in hotel and restaurant business – 270 leva (138 euros), shows data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

On the other hand, salaries are highest in the sphere of fuel production - an average of 1093 leva (558 euros).

According to official statistics, the average monthly income increased 8.22% in H1, from 377 leva (192 euros) to 408 leva (208 euros).

Salaried in public administration rose 7.34% and in June the average monthly pay in the sector stood at 424 leva (216 euros).

In the private sector the averag eincome rose 8.60% to 404 leva (206 euros) in June.

Salaries in the field of mining and extraction climbed 14.3% to 714 leva (365 euros), followed by financial mediators – 940 leva (480 euros).

Wages in the sectors of energy, gas and water supply are comparatively – 719 leva (367 euros).

Education continues to be one of the lowest-paid sectors – with an average of 380 leva (194 euros) a month.
