The construction of the second cross-Danubean bridge between Bulgaria and Romania is getting behind schedule, MP Mihail Mikov (Socialist) said in Vidin on Thursday. "The delay in the construction of this project has to be compensated regardless of where the reasons for it lie - be it in us or in our neighbours," Mikov said.

On the same subject Mikov addressed a question to the Minister of Transport a month ago. The reasons for the delay are not known so far, but we expect they will be stated by Minister Peter Moutafchiev, Mikov specified.

The political situation emerging to the west of Bulgaria is making Vidin increasingly important, both with the construction of the bridge and with the development of infrastructure, including the water route along the river Danube, the MP said.
