Just Nine Companies in BG40 End The First Business Week of 2008 On Positive Territory

In spite of the positive ending of 2007, at the beginning of 2008 BSE lapsed into fluctuations again. Three of the four official indicators declined on Wednesday and Thursday, while the only index to end on negative territory today was SOFIX.
SOFIX lost 3.5% in just three days to close at 1705.88 points today, versus 1767.88 points on December 21. BGTR30 dropped 1.8% to 1075.01, against1094.48 at the end of 2007.
Between the end of December and 4 January BG40 most more than 2%, or 518.06 points to 507.45. The only index not following the declining trend was BSE, which added nearly 3% in the past three days. As you know, towards the end of 2007 the indicator fell below its base 100 points several times, the last two declines were on December 15 and 20.
BSE's daily turnover today reached 14.313 mln leva (7.318 mln euros). Block and other reported OTC transactions came to 4.191 mln leva (2.142 mln euros). On Friday the active issues were 119, of which 52 ended the day on positive territory.
On a weekly basis, nine companies in BG40 advanced. The leader among these is Advance Terrafund REIT, which added 4.93% to its market value. Shares rose from 2.03 to 2.13 leva.
The other real estate investment trust in BG40 – Elana Agricultural Land Opportunity REIT rose 4.09% to an average of 2.29 leva.
The week was also very successful for Odessos Ship Repair Yard. The shares of the Varna-based ship repairer closed at 317.38 leva, which 2.4% above the last trade session in December.
Among this week's gainers are also Toplivo (+1.79% to an average of 29.64 leva), Fazerles (+1.44% to an average of 314.51 leva), Emka (+1.19% to 15.31 leva), Holding Varna A (+1.1% to 45 leva), Industrial Capital Holding (+0.6% to 10.07 leva) ans Petrol (+0.38% to 5.3 leva). There were no transactions with the stock of Petrol today.
Zaharni Zavodi continued to decline today. Shares closed at 13.71 leva, which 9.92% below December 21 levels.
Decotex fell 7% to an average of 2.79 leva.
Central Cooperative Bank suffered a serious decline – 6.59% to 9.92 leva.
Other decliners were Bulgarian-American Bank (-5.85% to an average of 75 leva), Polimeri (-5.45% to 10.58 leva), Bulgarian River Shipping AD (-5.05% to 9.21 leva) etc.
