Beautiful Bulgaria Project With a 13.7 Mln Leva Budget This Year

The Beautiful Bulgaria Project has been implemented in 200 municipalities in the country over the past ten years, the Minister of labor and social policy Emilia Maslarova said today.
More than 90 projects have been approved for 2008 under measure one – Improvement of Urban Areas and measure 2 – Improvement of Social Infrastructure. These projects will receive funding in the amount of a little over 13.7 mln leva.
More than 1,500 monuments of culture, schools, social institutions, parks and churches have been renovated under the Beautiful Bulgaria Project between 1997 and 2007. 45,000 unemployed people (one third of which representatives of minority communities) were engaged in the work process.
11,000 people have received professional training and more than 800 Bulgarian companies participated in the construction and improvement works.
The project gives temporary jobs and training to unemployed people, while improving the living environment of Bulgarian cities and strengthening small and medium enterprises.
