Opposition to Move No Confidence Vote Because of "Corruption Policy of Rulers"

The corruption policy of rulers in Bulgaria will be the subject and the goal of the vote of no confidence in the government, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) MP Vesselin Metodiev told journalists on Wednesday after consultations between the opposition parties at Parliament, BTA reports.
Independent MPs also took part in the talks.
The no confidence vote idea was launched by DSB in connection with a corruption scandal at the Republican Road Infrastructure fund.
At the Wednesday consultations, it was decided that every parliamentary group of the opposition would submit the final texts of the motives until Tuesday morning next week, which would be coordinated after that, Metodiev explained. It will be specified after that who will submit the vote.
The collection of signatures will be launched on Wednesday morning. "We will not give a chance to the rulers to answer our motifs on the TV on Sunday, after the meeting of the three-party coalition," Metodiev explained why the motives will not be tabled to Parliament this week.
There was some criticism regarding the formulation of the no confidence vote proposed by DSB at the Wednesday consultations. "At very beginning we reached an understanding that the vote will be because of corruption rather than the overall policy of cabinet," Metodiev also said. Additional work will be needed to find out where the funds under the EU structural funds and programs were least absorbed last year.
The Bulgarian New Democracy (BND) parliamentary group supports the motion of a no confidence vote, the group decided Tuesday evening. BND proposes the establishment of a consultative committee with representatives from all opposition parliamentary groups for a detailed preparation of the motives for the no confidence vote, BND told BTA in a press release. The consultative committee goal is to consolidate the capacity of the opposition and improve cooperation so that the forthcoming no confidence vote to be well motivated.
BND was established by MPs who left the parliamentary group of Simeon II National Movement, one of three parties of the ruling coalition.
