European Commission President To Visit Bulgaria

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso will visit Bulgaria on March 28, Commission Spokesman Mark Gray said on Wednesday.
Barroso will confer with President Georgi Purvanov and Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev. Purvanov will award him the highest Bulgarian honour, the Order of the Balkan Range, First Class, BTA reports.
The talks will review the accomplishments during the first year of Bulgaria EU membership and the membership benefits for the country, Gray said.
The sides will discuss matters relating to the implementation of the mechanism for cooperation and verification in the field of justice and home affairs between the European Commission and Bulgaria, and problems concerning suspended EU funding for some European programs in Bulgaria.
