Turkish Gendarmerie Uncovers Illegal Trade through Duty-Free Shops

Turkish gendarmerie uncovered a ring for illegal trade through duty-free shops on the Bulgarian-Turkish border at Kapikule. Fourteen people were arrested and another four are being searched for.
The illegal group was supplied with cigarettes and alcohol from duty-free shops, and then the goods were shipped into the country's interior.
The Turkish gendarmerie carried out the enforcement operation simultaneously in Edirne, Sakaria and Usak. The contraband activity was uncovered after long surveillance, including by
using cameras.
Searches of the homes and work places of the arrested 14 persons resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cigarettes, alcohol and euro.
Investigative proceedings are under way against the arrested persons.
