National Assembly Discusses The Fifth No-Confidence Vote On The Government
The National Assembly is discussing today the fifth opposition-sponsored no-confidence vote in the Government. The motion has been prompted by alleged "involvement of the incumbents with organized crime", BTA is reporting.
The debates are broadcast live by the two national electronic media, the Bulgarian National Television and the Bulgarian National Radio. According to the opposition, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev's Cabinet should step down because "the power-crime axis runs via its Ministry of the Interior".
The behaviour of Interior Minister Roumen Petkov is turning both the Government and the whole Bulgarian nation into his personal hostages; the Minister's inability to deal with organized crime and corruption for three years now will lead not to temporary but to a terminal freezing of EU funds, the motives further read.
