Romania: Number of tourists rose by 8.2

In the first two months of the year the tourist inflows have risen by 8.2 per cent to 824.000 compared to the level registered in the similar period of 2007, according to the data issued by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Thus, the Romanian tourist inflows in the tourist lodging units has represented a share of 79.1 per cent of the total tourist inflows. The remaining percentage, representing the share of foreign tourist inflows, has been close to the level registered in the first two months of 2007.
In the first two months of the year the hotels have registered a share of 72.6 per cent of the total inflows in the tourist lodging units, representing a 5.4 per cent growth compared to the same period last year.
The nights that the Romanian tourists have spent in the tourist lodging units have represented 78.1 per cent of the total. The remaining percentage, representing the nights spent by foreign tourists, has been close to the level registered in the same period last year.
