World and European women wrestling champion Stanka Zlateva topped the Top 10 of Bulgarian athletes for the outgoing year in a traditional poll organized by Nove Holding.

Having for a second year in a row the world and European titles, Zlateva scored a total of 2 228 points in the Top 10 poll.

Second came world ice dance couple Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski with 1 767. The same score went to Graeco-Roman wrestler Yavor Yanakiev.

The winners in the Top 10 poll were awarded by President Georgi Purvanov. They received sculptures and a financial package starting from 30 000 leva for the first, 20,000 leva for the second, 15,000 leva for the third and 10,000 leva each to the fourth to the tenth.

In her thank-you speech, Stanka Zlateva mentioned her coach Simeon Shterev, the Wrestling Federation, Youth and Sport Agency chief Vessela Lecheva and Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Stefka Kostadinova.

Second-best Denikova-Staviski, and the seventh, Matey Kaziiski, were not at the ceremony.
