Today is the deadline of the period in which the concessioner of Highway Trakia – Portuguese consortium Trakiya Highway, had to find funds to finance the construction, the Bulgarian National Television reported.

If the concessioner is unable to find resources for the construction, the Minister of regional development and public works Asen Gagauzov will make a proposal for the freeway to be build using state funds.

Some 100-150 million leva is necessary in order for the construction works to begin. The unfinished track is about 180 km long.

Yesterday Sega newspaper cited MP Evegni Chachev saying that the freeway's completion will most probably be assigned to 4 Bulgarian companies.

It is believed that those will be Vasil Bojkov's Holding Roads, Nikolay Mikhailov's Trace Group and Simeon Peshov's Glavbolgarstroy. Those were joined by another businessman Georgi Gergov, who surprisingly became a shareholder in Plovdiv-based Roads Jsc.
