Bulgaria's overall industrial output went up by 8.8% in April 2008, compared to April 2007, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported. The output of the processing industry rose by 12.4% over the period. The output of machinery, equipment, household appliances marked a 33.8-percent year on year increase, while the output of rubber and plastic products went up by 30.6%. The output of food products and beverages rose by 6.9%.

The overall industrial output decreased by 0.7% in April, compared to March, preliminary data show. The decline may be out down to the lower output in the electricity, water and gas supply sector, which declined by 6.6%. The output in the mining industry went down by 5%.

The index of production in the processing industry marked a 1.3-percent month on month increase in April 2008. The output of machinery, equipment and household appliances grew by 13.9% in April, compared to March. The output of other non-metallic mineral products rose by 5.3% on a monthly basis.

Industrial sales revenue marked an 8.4-percent year on year increase in April. The sales revenue in the processing industry rose by 9.7% in April 2008, compared to the same month a year earlier. Investment product sales went up by 12.9%, while energy product sales declined by 3.8%.

Industrial sales revenue wen down by 1% in April, compared to March. Processing industry sales remained unchanged. The sales in the electricity, water and gas supply sector marked a 9.8-percent month on month drop, while mining industry sales slipped by 3.4%.
