Assets of the Bulgarian Deposit Insurance Fund at 521.3 Million Leva

The Bulgarian Deposits Insurance Fund (DIF) released its annual statement for 2007 today. The paper includes the financial report and the management's report on activity during the year.
As at December 31 the total value of DIF's assets stands at 521.319 mln leva (266.54 mln euros), compared with 395.958 mln leva (202.45 mln euros) at the end of 2006.
Cash and cash equivalents account for 198.457 mln leva, against 53.819 mln leva a year ago. Securities available for sale amount to 321.848 mln leva, against 341.049 mln leva in 2006.
2007 profit is at 128.784 mln leva, versus 94.985 mln leva in 2006. The financial result includes premiums in the amount of 106.625 mln leva, compared with 84.828 mln leva in 2006.
In 2007 the fund received payments from 29 banks in the amount of 106.625 mln leva (compared with 84.828 mln leva in 2006).
In 2007 the fund invested its assets in government bonds and in deposits in the Bulgarian National Bank. The share of bonds in the fund's portfolio varied from 42.62% to 61.92% during the year. Profit from investments stood at 18.406 mln leva, against 11.881 mln leva in 2006.
On 2 Jul.y 2007 Sofia City Court approved the sale of the International Bank for Trade and Development Jsc as a single company.
The buyer will be responsible for liabilities to creditors in the amount of 9.2 mln leva. The fund has received 6.822 mln leva from the sum mentioned above.
