Romania Could Attract Investments Worth 15 Bln Euros in Energy
Romania's energy sector could attract investments totaling 12-15 billion euros in the next three years, according to Finance and Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian, standard.ro reported.
The initial estimates show a level of investments above 3 bln euros for reactors 3 and 4 of the nuclear plant in the eastern town of Cernavoda, Vosganian added.
Furthermore, investments in existing power plants amount to 2-3 billion euros. Beside government projects, several major companies plan to build their own power plants.
The government is not rushing to privatize energy companies, Vosganian went on to say. "We are not interested to privatize large energy groups to strategic investors. We will have them listed on the stock exchange. Now, when energy becomes an economic zone with political impact, we want the state to remain dominant in these companies," Vosganian said.
