The start of the year is extremely difficult for the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) and is a continuation of the declining liquidity in the end of 2008. I do not expect trade to pick up during today's session on BSE, Vesselin Morov, borker at Naba Investmets, told Profit.bg.

The positive sentiment on the international markets during the holiday period did not catch up with all Bulgarian investors who are apathetic towards what is happening on BSE, according to Morov.

This is the reason for the lack of correction of the downward trend so far. I expect a lateral movement of the indexes with a modest positive trend and low liquidity," Morov added.

BSE's turnover remained extremely low yesterday in the second trading session of the year, while three of the index closed higher.

The SOFIX blue-chip index posted its second gain for the year advancing by 0.34%, to 360.81 points. The BG40 index of the most traded stocks was the only decliner yesterday slipping by 0.15%, to 108.00 points.

A total 64 issues were traded yesterday with 27 of the companies posting stock price gains.
