BTC continues to be the biggest company on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) in terms of market capitalization, even though its stock is not among the most actively traded.
The market capitalization of the telecommunications company stands at 1.45 bln leva. BTC is one of the two companies whose market value still exceeds 1 bln leva.
The other company is Petrol, whose market capitalization stands at 1.1 bln leva.
The twenty companies with biggest market value accounted for 64% of BSE's market capitalization, which amounts to 12.16 bln leva, a check-up conducted by Profit.bg shows.
BSE's overall market capitalization has declined sightly compared to the end of November 2008, whet it totaled 12.59 bln leva.
Only five of the companies listed on BSE have a market value of over 500 mln leva each, which may be put down to the slump of the prices of Bulgarian stocks in the recent months.
In addition to BTC and Petrol EIBank, DZI and Arco Towers have over 500 mln leva market capitalization each.
Only one of these five companies is actively traded. EIBank's stock for example was last traded on June 20, 2008. Deals on the position of DZI were last sealed on September 3.
Mekom is the twentieth biggest company on BSE in terms of market capitalization with a market value of 112 mln leva. Albena ranks 19th with nearly 118 mln leva market capitalization.
