The first week of trading on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) for 2009 brought weekly losses to three of the four indexes. The new year did not start as good as we wanted a foreign crisis unfortunately affected the population and the manufacturing of Bulgaria. The standoff between Russia and Ukraine inflicted Bulgarian companies 28.3 mln leva direct losses, according to economy and energy minister Petar Dimitrov.

BG TR30 posted the biggest weekly loss of 1.28%, to 269.33 points. The SOFIX blue-chip index slipped by nearly 1%, to 355.14 points. The BG REIT index of real estate investment trusts shed 0.37% to 48.35 points over the week.

The broader BG40 was the only index to post gain over the week. The index advanced by 0.57%, to 108.42 points.

Investors on BSE were not very active over the last five days. BSE's daily turnover rarely exceeded 1 mln leva. Even today the value of the over-the-counter deals amounted to 881,446 leva.

Enemona posted the biggest weekly gain among the stocks included in the calkculation of the BG40 index. The stock of the company appreciated by 23.07%, to 8.59 leva, compared to December 23, 2008. Enemona has won a public contract worth 150 mln leva with the Ministry of Justice for the construction of a new building. The contract is for three years.

KTB's average stock price advanced by 8.17%, to 70.33 leva per share this week. Polimeri was also among BSE's gainers this week. The stock of the company appreciated by 4.09%, to 1.78 leva per share.

Doverie United Holding in turn shed 11.88%, to 5.12 leva over the last five days. Neochim skidded 10.12% lower to 37.47 leva per share.

Eurohold Bulgaria ended today's session with a weekly decline of 9.77%, to an average of 1.57 leva per share.
