The Austrian company EVN Naturkraft has launched the construction of new 25 wind generators near Kavarna. The project was press launched by a team of the company, a subsidiary of EVN, on Tuesday.
The investment amounts to 95 million euro, said EVN Vice President Kalina Trifonova. The facilities are about to be completed by September 2009 and licensed and set into operation by mid-2010. The park will generate about 140,000 megawatts of electricity annually, which equals the annual consumption of 40,000 households.
EVN has obtained all types of permits, including an environmental impact assessment (EIA), regarding the effect of the generators on the migratory birds. The Via Pontica migratory route does not run over the park, EVN specified.
The project envisages a 15-year return of investments. Wind energy is purchased at preferential prices set by the State Energy and Water Regulatory Committee on an annual basis.
