The number of customers who use cashless payments is increasing and to date they exceed 110,000, said ePay.bg Executive Director Georgi Marinov in a press release on Thursday.

ePay.bg operates a system for electronic payments.

ePay.bg reports a 33 per cent rise in electronic payments between January and June 2009, with a 1.2 million transactions compared with 900,000 transactions for the like period of 2008.

Transactions exceed 52 million leva. Marinov predicted a rise in the number of transactions in the summer.

There is a significant increase in the number of people who shop online too. For the first half of 2009 the number of transactions to online shops exceeded 83,000, which is 66 per cent more compared with the January-June period of 2008.

The volume of payments through microaccounts has risen too. For the first half of 2009 there were 57,000 transactions against 34,000 for the like period of 2008.
