In the first ten days of February the Sofia heating utility will remit 90 million leva of its outstanding debts for gas supplies to Bulgargaz, which account for 90 per cent of the utility debts to Bulgargaz, said Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova on Monday. This will ensure that the heating won't be disrupted during the winter season, she added.

The Sofia Mayor met on Monday with Sofia heating utility head Stoyan Tsvetanov and Bulgargaz Executive Director Dimiter Gogov.

In the meantime, the heating utility's leadership will take steps to improve the collection of two outstanding bills back-to-back, said Tsvetanov, adding that private law enforcers have improved the collection of outstanding bills, bringing in 14.5 million leva.

Taking a question, Gogov named among Bulgargaz' largest debtors the heating utilities in Shoumen, Bourgas, Vratsa and Pleven. The Bulgargaz Executive Director said that Monday's agreement will help Bulgargaz continue payments for gas supplies. Taking a question, Tsvetanov said a new loan to cover overdues was not at issue.
