Bulgaria's industrial production index, based on seasonally adjusted data, increased by 1.3 per cent in November 2010 compared with October 2010, according to early estimates released by the National Statistical Institute on Friday.

In November 2010 compared with November 2009, the calendar-adjusted industrial production index increased by 5.6 per cent.

In the extracting industry the production index in November 2010 grew by 6.2 per cent from October 2010. In the processing industry it increased by 2.2 per cent. In electricity, heat and gas production and distribution the index ecreased by 10.2 per cent.

More considerable growth in the processing industry was registered in the manufacture of paper, cardboard and products thereof, at 25.5 per cent, in the production of chemicals, at 14.2 per cent, drinks, at 10.6 per cent, medicinal substances and products, at 7.4 per cent, and rubber and plastics, at 5.4 per cent. A decline was registered in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, at 12.5 per cent, the production of basic metals, at 10.0 per cent, and timber and products thereof (exclusive of furniture), at 9.9 per cent.

In November 2010 compared with November 2009, the industrial production index in the processing industry increased by 11.3 per cent. In electricity, heat and gas production and distribution it decreased by 7.4 per cent, and in the extracting industry it fell by 0.7 per cent.

An increase was registered in investment products, at 16.3 per cent, and in intermediate consumption products, at 8.4 per cent, while energy products decreased by 0.2 per cent.
